Expenses You Can't Avoid In NYSC Orientation Camp

Before I went to national youth service corp (NYSC) orientation camp, I prepared for everything. In terms of items I will need, I got the quantity I think I will need without spending too much. I did a lot of calculation. Yet, with all of this I could not prevent myself from spending extra inside the camp. It is inevitable. You can't prevent this. There are things that must take your cash in the camp. They are necessary expenses.

How To Buy Items To Reduce Expenses
Some camp expenses corp member can't avoid
Expenses in camp

You can go to a major market to get your things. This is far cheaper. You may not get everything you need if you live far from where the camp is because certain things are only needed at camps. So many people don't sell those things except for business that are close to the camp. That means you have to get those things at the camp.
There is an alternative to buying your things. There are vedors who sell these things Nationwide. They have a prepared list at a specific price. You can check out the list if it suits you. Some deliver within a day while some take more than that. I will not encourage anyone to patronise than because their prize is high. Many of them have a stand inside the camp.
Now in case you forgot anything before going to camp, you still have the privilege of buying it at the gate from local vendor at cheaper rate. These people don't pay store rent hence the cheaper price. If you go to a camp where by the transport or any other means of movement you use drop you at the entrance, wait for some time for those vendors to show. They will encourage you to buy so many things. Just look at the one that is your need and not want and buy. Take for example, an identity card holder cost 100 naira at the gate. Inside the camp the price is 200 naira. However, the price drop to 150 naira on the second week and 100 on the third week. The type of identity card holder you need is mostly available at camp.
As careful as you are, your spending may start at the gate. Immediately you step in, some locals may pretend to help you carry your bag and luggages. Please it is not completely free. They will not harass you for money but they will beg you for money. You may feel embarrassed not to give them. Some may even put a price tag. Don't worry. Just give them what you can afford that is if you make use of their service. However, this is not the last time you will see them. They will be back.
Who will assist you in arranging your documents if you are not told how to do it? I guess you know the answer is not your fellow confuse corp member that is battling to arrange his or hers. Your best bet is these guys parading the ground. They are use to the camp that they know each documents from afar. They know how to arrange them. They will offer to do it only to demand for token at the end.
Some of your documents will need to be stapled. If you came with your own stapler, fine. If not you are in for another charges. To staple one document is about 10 naira. Add that to the money they will charge to perforate your file and documents. However, all these charges are hidden if you allow the boys/girls to help you arrange everything.  You have pass through enough mental stress. Rest up a bit and let them do it.
After registration, the last thing you will do is to collect your NYSC kits. How do you intend to carry them to your room? Don't even think you can use your hands to carry eleven items at a go. And if you decide to leave some behind, you are on your one (OYO) because you may not meet them when you come back. The solution is to patronize those locals again. They will flaunt their big flashy nylon bags in your face to carry your kits. Do you really have a choice? Except you bought the nylon bag from home which to me is not ideal.
Throughout the orientation camp period, you will be given many documents to fill and submit. You are require to photocopy only one of the given documents in two places. The rest don't need a copy. That is the only official photocopy you are to make. However, I always make a copy for all my documents. But when I consider the cost, I changed my mind. I opted to use my phone camera to take them. Even though the image was not neat, the quality was still intact.
You will not be allow to take pictures with your phone at certain restricted areas such as the man-o-war activities. You will only be allow to patronize the services of camp photographers. This is another expenditure you cannot runaway from. Some person's spend up to fifteen thousand naira for just photographs.
On the day of passing out, you will be given your posting letter. It is an A4 size letter. However, you will have to hold it in your hands or opt for an envelope to secure it. Those niggas will be all over the place with brown A4 size envelope. You will only realized the envelope is useless when you have gotten to the hostel to get your luggage. I held mine in my hand, went straight to my room and added the letter to my other forms inside the transparent file I have.
Do you think those guys are done with you? Not yet. Immediately you come out of the hostel with your bag and luggages going to your place of primary assignment, they are here. This time more relax because every corp member have exhausted all the cash at hand unlike the first day everybody came loaded and prepared. They will offer to carry your load. Unlike your arrival, you know this involve money. They did not get much job today.
Every other expenses is highly optional. From charging phones to buying sachet water to buying food. All these depends on your desire.
